The PMP exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Out of these 200 questions, 25 are considered pretest questions, which are not scored. These pretest questions are randomly placed throughout the exam and are used for research purposes to gather data on their performance before potentially including them in future exams.
The remaining 175 questions are scored and contribute to the final exam score. The passing score for the PMP exam is not predetermined and can vary from one exam to another. The score is determined by a psychometric analysis conducted after the exam.
Candidates are given a total of 4 hours to complete the exam. This time includes reading and accepting the exam agreement, as well as any breaks taken during the exam. The time starts as soon as the candidate begins the exam.
It is important for candidates to manage their time effectively during the exam to ensure they have enough time to read and answer all the questions. It is recommended to allocate around 1.2 minutes per question on average to complete the exam within the given time frame.
It is also worth noting that the PMP exam is administered through a computer-based testing (CBT) system, where candidates can navigate through the questions and review their answers before submitting the exam.
